Fat people - NO
Posted by Chris @ 9:04 am
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH! Fat people - NO. At this point I would launch into a scathing rant against fat people, however in groundhog day fashion, I've been here before, exactly the same reason for this rant was the reason for this (Well done Marks and Spencer) rant. So please re-read that post, the only difference being that Marks and Spencer's profits are now up.

Thin people 'no!' nothing worse than seeing someone who just needs to eat a good meal and people who cant fill their clothes as they should! So get off your high horse and stop being fatist, people are people and no one has the right to judge anyone based on their size. And before u ask, no im not a size 22!

This is a divisive issue for sure, and one that needs handling with care to avoid unnecessary offence. For that reason I have decided to delete my original comment here, despite the fact that its child-like beauty made me laugh to myself for several minutes. For the benefit if Chris's tag cloud though, it contained the following words and phrases...fat... gross... pie...vomit... pies... sick... pie-eater... pie-face... famine... felch... banana... clandestine... banjo... sick with bits of pie in it... flower... child... why can't we all just get a long... spirit level... Sudan... Bob-shitting-Geldoff... goat.
For the record, one of my best friends is a fat.

Firstly Anonymous, stop being a coward and identify yourself. If I can put my name to my opinions, surely you can do the same.Secondly, I don't own a horse, let alone a high one.
Thirdly, like Chris, I also have relatives and friends who are fat. And whilst I may rant at fat people, call it a bit of tough love. If my ranting means they look at their lifestyles and try to improve their weight, great, they'll be better off for it. Am I fatist? If by that do I find fat people annoying, then yes, probably. But do I hate fat people? No. If people choose to lead a lifestyle that makes them fat, and then not be able to buy clothes in a high street store, that is their decision, not anyone elses! And again, in case you didn't read my post properly, for those that are fat due to clinical reasons I'm sorry, my comments are aimed at those who are fat because of their lifestyles.
Fourthly, I'm not trying to judge anyone, I'm expressing an opinion, much like you have.

I am gonna stay anonymous just because i cant be bothered to create an identity, but I still stand by my comments. As you have never had an ounce of fat on you, you wouldn't understand the spiral of comfort eating that errupts when you are overweight. With people saying stuff like you did, overweight people are not encourged to loose weight, but are then made to feel ugly and lazy. This does nothing to motivate to lose weight and for most, results in them comfort eating. Thus the problem continues. Sorry to get all serious, but this is afterall a comments page! And finally just how many of your relatives and friends are fat?!This comment posted by Anonymous

OK. Your excuse for staying anonymous is lame, you don't have to create an account to put your name against a comment, in fact you can just put it in the comment itself! But it is of little consequence as I have a pretty good idea of who you are anyway, not least by the fact you talk about my figure, but mainly because of my website logs. However my comments below are the same, regardless of whether I know you or not.If someone reads my comments and decides it makes them feel "ugly and lazy" rather than motivates them to change their lifestyle, its their decision, no one else's.
And you talk of comfort eating. Again, no one else's decision but theirs. They can comfort eat fruit, nuts, drink water, you don't need to eat bad stuff to comfort eat. And why comfort eat at all, they should take control of their life's, get a bit of will power.
Essentially my argument is this. A person can change their ways. There is plenty of support and advice out there to help people change their lifestyle, but it needs the individual to want to do it, and have the will power to do it. Is it easy? I imagine not, but having not done it I can't tell you. However if the individual doesn't want to change, then they should accept the fact that their health will suffer and people will judge them for it. Simple. And just for completeness I believe the same can be said for smokers.
Finally, how many of my relatives and friends are fat? You're baiting me aren't you ;o) I would definitely class one relative as fat, the rest are fine. Did I lie in my previous comment? A little bit. Why? I was mocking Chris' comment.

As your mother I find your comments on this page offensive to everyone not just fat people especially as I know of NO relative that is fat. Such comments do not need to be expressed in print for the whole world to read. That is not how I brought you up to view the world, where have such derogative comments come fromThis comment posted by Anonymous

Firstly, I love you mum, but I can see we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.Lets get some perspective. This whole thing started out because someone complained that Marks and Spencer didn't do sizes larger than size 22, and I posted a comment that wasn't meant to be taken that seriously. The first comment shows that the responder didn't either, it seems a fairly light hearted response. Now since then I have tried very hard not to offend anyone, but merely state my case that it is generally a person's lifestyle decisions that mean they become size 22 or greater (what I've been deeming fat) and that by changing their lifestyle they can become healthier.
I am very aware of who reads this blog, and if I have offended anyone, I'm sorry, I didn't mean too. I have a very frank and cheeky nature and that shows in my posts. However writing these opinions on my blog does do one thing, it promotes discussion about a subject that can be considered taboo, and shouldn't be. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the relative thing, but I have not said who I was talking about, and have no intention of doing so, because that would be out of order. And just to clarify, it is no one in my immediate family. You are quite right mum, it is not how you brought me up, but as my own person I have my own opinions.
Finally I've had plenty of people support the opinions I've expressed here, mine just happens to have been the blog they appeared on.

Fatist???? Well I have a few fat friends and to be honest I love them as a person, however could I go out with a fatty, the answer is without a doubt no, I find it sexually repulsive, I definately do not find really thin attractive either, the way I see it is I look after myself, exercise, hit the weights etc, so not excuse for being a fatty but to the same end why be a twiglet!!! such a touchy subject we all have our oppinions, am I a fattest?????This comment posted by Anonymous
